UST Traiectum has signed up to the 2026 spring competition with three teams. Here is all you need to know!

The teams

All teams are playing in the DUO competition of the NTTB, the dutch table tennis association. As we play in Utrecht, we are part of the Middle Region.

Team 1 – Third class

Team 1, consisting of Du and Tore, is playing in third class. Tore has played DUO competition before, but is coming off a half year break. For Du it is the first time playing dutch competition ever, and the first time playing competition in years.

Team 2 – Fifth class

Lucas, Maarten and Daniël form Team 2. They played as UST Team in the 2025 Fall Competition together and managed a 4th place in their pool.

Team 3 – Sixth class

In Team 3 Duco, Krijn and Bas keep playing, after also having played in last years competition on getting 3rd place in their pool. They are reinforced by Lars, new to competition, and Elif who has played competition before.

Week by week: The spring competition 2026

The season opener

On Tuesday the 20th of January all three teams had their first games. Since all teams played at home we could count on the support of our members who came by to cheer us on!

Team 1 starting convincingly, winning all four singles matches. Despite their best efforts the final double match was lost in a nail-biting fifth set that was ultimately lost 11-13.
Team 2 had a tough match-up: the strongest team of their pool by team rating Iduna 3 came by. After valiant fight Daniël and Lucas could count one win a singles match, loosing 1-4.
Team 3 played with Duco and Lars. Together they won two singles matches, thus it was 2-2 before the deciding double. That went into the fifth set, but was lost 9 points to 11.

Week 2

This marked the first away games for all Teams. While Team 1 went to Maarn, Teams 2 and 3 traveled to Maarssen together. Here is what the teams had to say after their games:

Team 1: “Finding the right entrance was far from our only challenge. We struggled to get into the match loosing the first two single matches. We then won the other two single matches in the fifth set. Unfortunately we could not complete our comeback, loosing the double”

Team 2: “This week we went to Maarssen together with team 3. We played some long matches so in the end everyone around us was already done and we were still playing. But it was worth the effort because we won 3 – 2!! Our opponents were really friendly.”

Week 3

Team 1: “We went to Maarssen, where the other two teams were the week before. Once more we had a tough start to the game. This week we could not really turn it around either and lost 4-1.”

Team 2: Had to move their game to the 3rd of March.

Week 4

In week 4 all teams played at home again. This does not only bring the advantage of a shorter trip to and from the hall, but also of having our supporters cheer us on.

Team 1: “Finally we started into the game well, winning the first two matches. Both were a real struggle that we only decided in the fifth set. After that we ran out of energy and could not secure the third point we would have needed to win in either our second singles or the double.”

Team 2: “We won again, but this time we had to work really hard for it. Somehow Lucas felt the need in every game to start really bad and then make a comeback. Maarten played with a new bat, still he already played amazing in the double.”

Week 5

Team 1: “This week we delivered an outstanding performance, winning all five of our matches. We were especially proud to secure our first doubles victory. Both of us played at a very high level throughout the week, staying focused and consistent in every match. Our cooperation in doubles was excellent. It was a week where everything came together perfectly!”
